I was unaware of the tobacco/aluminium article in the BMJ and I'm intrigued to know more. Specifically, as I mix my own liquid, I wonder if vegetable glycerine produces the same high toxicity readings as the propylene? (It does appear it's the heating of the device, however there a few different ways these devices produce the 'vape').

Many coffee makers heat the water by using an aluminum heating element. The aluminum heating element adds aluminum to your cup of coffee.
Especially if you use fluoridated water... the fluoride “pits” the aluminum heating element... increasing its surface area and increasing how much aluminum is added to your coffee.
Instead use a coffee maker with a stainless steel heating element....
