I remember in one of your excellent presentations about this mechanism in fish, a pediatrician in the audience wondered if this mechanism could also be affecting children and elderly who receive the vast majority of Al containing vaccines and whether it is related to the asthma, COPD and other breathing conditions affecting highly vaccinated humans!

I think there is more to understand about how aluminium interacts with the layers of mucus that protect all epithelia, for example in the lung in relation to diseases such as cystic fibrosis.

Fascinating. Always love to understand the mechanisms (engineer talking). It provides so much useful knowledge. I did wonder whether that boundary layer you found was (what has now been trumpeted as a major factor) by the likes of Prof Gerry Pollack as EZ (Exclusion Zone) or structured water. They sure look very similar, from your description and fulfil the same functional requirement of being part of trans membrane transport.

If they are the same, then you found them 20-30 years before the structured water people

Presumably the aluminium industry didn’t contest your work on fish because the aluminium that was killing fish was leached from soil by the acid rain I.e. it was from a natural source not from an industrial process. Can you pinpoint when your research started to be problematic to the industry? Was it when you started work on toxicity in humans or when you directly addressed adjuvants in vaccines.

In those days anyone wishing to receive a paper copy of a published paper would send you a postcard request. I did get such requests from the Al industry in the early days but they increased significantly following the publication of this paper in 1993. https://febs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1016/0014-5793%2893%2980137-J

The 'nasty' stuff really only began following my Al in brain tissue in autism paper.

Ha! It's amazing what you can read on Substack!

I'm no fisherwoman, but found it an interesting post nonetheless :-)

Re fish… I just came across a fascinating, short paperback book called POISON IN YOUR POTS AND PANS by J.L. Rodale. In this *1955* book, on page 21, he describes an experiment with goldfish.

He boiled water in both an aluminum pot and a stainless steel utensil for a half hour.

After cooling, he placed goldfish in both containers.

He reported, “The goldfish will usually die in the aluminized water in from a few hours to a few days, but will remain alive in the stainless water.”

The Aluminum industry knew about the deadliness of aluminum many *decades* ago… but still persist in denying it!

Meanwhile, using a liter/quart of OSA-containing Fiji water, MY MD-measured scores have improved from “beginning Alzheimer’s” to High Normal.”

Aluminum is the third highest element present in the earth's crust at about 8%. I wonder what our natural exposure would be without having it forced into our bodies through drugs and foods? I would assume that through nature, for most of us the levels of AI would not be toxic.

Indeed. I have written many times on this subject including in my book and this paper. https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2013/EM/C3EM00374D

Awesome paper in FULL! Thanks for sharing the link. I will be forwarding to my integrative medicine doctors.

A Midwestern Doctor (deliberate pen name) has a phenomenal, deep series of columns on substack. They have written quite a bit about the impact of Al on physiology, especially a little discussed but powerful aspect of the impact of high positive charged molecules such as Al+3--and the highly positive spike protein--on zeta potential, which in biophysics creates the charge differential which keeps ions in suspension. A prime example is the impact on red blood cells, which can fall out of suspension in the bloodstream in a phenomenon known as blood sludging, which is also known in chinese medicine as blood stasis. AMD wrote a series of articles which along the way look at the historical release of Aluminum into circulation in the world environment. You could start here: https://amidwesterndoctor.substack.com/p/why-does-every-vaccine-often-cause

May I just warn you against taking any notice whatsoever of the ideas of this AMD. Just nonsense I am afriad.

Some of the post by AMD appear to be pseudo science at it's finest!

Is there anything in particular you take issue with? AMD does cite your research somewhat frequently in her articles.

Anyone who suggests that aluminium in blood contributes towards the zeta potential of blood is not understanding that the concentration of the free Al3+ cation in blood is never higher than nanomolar (10-9M). Regardless of its 3+ charge this cannot make any addition to the zeta potential of blood. Consider that the major cation in blood, sodium, Na+ is present at over 100 mM, a million times higher than the highest concentration of Al3+ in blood. Does this help to explain my concerns?

Yes, I have written about this in my book and I have also commented on this here in my substack.

AMD is an experienced doctor, getting his/her MD after working in Chinese Medicine. She has years of experience in the trenches as an ER doc and practicing family medicine. Her carefully drawn critiques of MD's are measured and thoughtful, steering people away from the swamps of allopathy. She draws heavily from the work of a range of scientists, and exposes us to the neglected yet valuable works. Here her work is in close parallel here to that of yours, Dr. Exley. Both of you are very concerned about the toxicity of aluminum. My main complaint is that s/he writes long--but of course it takes more time and effort to write concisely. The volume of her work as listed on her Substack covers a wide range of timely topics. I would urge you not to rush to judgment.

It is not about closed or open minds. You do not achieve in science if your mind is closed. However, you do not achieve in science if you are unable to determine what constitutes science and what does not. You can be my judge as a scientist and decide if my opinion is worthwhile or not. I am simply giving you the best and most informed opinion that I can. If I may be immodest. No one knows more about aluminium in living things than myself. It has taken me 40 years of dedicated research and learning to achieve this. I am able to judge other opinions on aluminium. I do not judge other scientists research and opinions on other subjects.
